As of now, there are no specific mandatory international safety standards exclusively governing baby boxes. However, in the United States, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has established the Safety Standard for Infant Sleep Products, which applies to products intended to provide sleeping accommodations for infants up to 5 months old. This standard encompasses various products, including baby boxes, and aims to ensure their safety.

It’s important to note that baby boxes do not meet the federal definitions of cribs, bassinets, play yards, or handheld carriers, and therefore are not subject to specific mandatory safety standards in the U.S. The CPSC is collaborating with standards development organizations, manufacturers, child safety experts, and other stakeholders to include requirements for cardboard baby boxes within the bassinet voluntary standard.
